Choreographic work

Scattered Complexity

Scattered Complexity is a 50-minute multidisciplinary performance by Veronika Kolomazníková and Aryan Jauregui, inspired by Jack London's novel The Star Rover. This innovative piece integrates dance, photography, and real-time video projection to create a dynamic stage experience. The performance is designed to be set in a theatre space equipped with a dance floor, complete blackout capabilities, and a white screen in the background for the projections.

As the choreographer, Kolomazníková developed the show around the concept that all humans originate from the same source, linked by a higher consciousness, and influenced by experiences from past lives. These past experiences and memories subtly shape our current decisions. The performance explores the idea that each action triggers a reaction, but it questions whether our choices are genuinely our own or influenced by the societal systems we inhabit, which may restrict true freedom of choice. The performance utilises live video and photo projections on the background to illustrate the outcomes of these interactions. The dancers respond to the projections, which depict various potentialities and the continual flux of decisions, juxtaposing past decisions with their possible outcomes. This highlights the concept that each action causes a reaction, and each moment is unique, never to be precisely replicated.

The use of live projection aims to immerse the audience in distorted realities, challenging their perceptions of the outside world. This technique underscores the notion that our reality is merely a projection of our minds. The creators intend for the audience to experience a state of suspended disbelief as they notice that the projections do not always align with their initial observation. This deliberate misalignment serves to provoke introspection about the nature of reality and perception.

Oussama and Veronika

Oussama and Veronika is a dance performance exploring attraction, love, vulnerability, and the negotiation of boundaries. Through physical expression, the choreography unfolds a narrative of voluntary, consensual power exchange between two partners who encounter one another as complete strangers yet experience an immediate, magnetic attraction.

The piece incorporates various BDSM practices as subtle hints, rendered almost as glitches through choreographic language. Rather than a work centred on sexuality, this is fundamentally about human connection and the architecture of trust.

The performance plays with a central paradox: the more we trust, the more we let go—and the more deeply we become attached and connected. This dynamic draws a parallel to forbidden love, echoing the timeless tragedy of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, where social taboos surrounding unconventional sexual practices create tension and longing.
